Marketing Manager.

 

Role Purpose

We're looking for a hands-on, strategic, and process-driven Marketing Manager to lead our experienced marketing team and take ownership of our marketing execution across digital, retail, and community channels. You’ll oversee brand campaigns, drive customer acquisition and retention, and help us scale the global company to double in size within 2-3 years.

You’ll work directly with an owner who occasionally blows the budget on random left-field initiatives without consulting anyone, and an iconic Australian brand committed to Australian manufacturing, which makes product margins slimmer than most - it’s also what makes us special.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, can lead with clarity, and is just as comfortable briefing a campaign as they are reviewing paid performance or getting boots on the ground at events.

 

Key Responsibilities

Team & Workflow Leadership

  • Lead weekly marketing WIPs, aligning campaign timelines, team priorities, and cross-functional dependencies, including with Budgy Smuggler UK and France entity counterparts.

  • Manage performance and KPIs across the team, driving accountability, efficiency, and growth.

  • Mentor and develop a creative, digital, and partnerships-focused marketing team.

  • Coordinate with international marketing counterparts in the UK and France.

Brand & Campaign Strategy

  • Build and execute brand and product marketing strategies aligned to our business goals.

  • Oversee seasonal launches, partnerships, and cultural moments across all channels.

  • Bring our brand values to life through storytelling, community, and creative execution.

  • Ensure brand consistency across digital, social, retail, PR, influencer, and event activations.

Digital Performance & Retention

  • Lead creative campaign strategy

  • Oversee performance marketing activity (Meta, Google, TikTok), via internal and with external agency support.

  • Use data to optimise CAC, ROAS, and blended MER across acquisition and retention funnels.

  • Partner with the CRM & Site Manager to improve customer retention, email/SMS, and LTV.

  • Support international traffic and conversion through localisation strategies.

Partnerships, Influencers & PR

  • Manage the brand’s influencer and ambassador strategy - scouting, onboarding and activating talent.

  • Oversee PR outreach and media partnerships, aligning messaging with product and brand campaigns.

  • Build brand collaborations and event-based partnerships that align with our core values and audience.

Retail & CX Integration

  • Own the in-store marketing experience - from campaign rollouts to visual merchandising and POS.

  • Align digital and in-store storytelling for a cohesive customer experience.

  • Collaborate with CX and retail teams to optimise the customer journey across all touchpoints.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Work with the GM to plan, manage and report on the marketing budget with a focus on ROI.

  • Contribute to reporting and business reviews with key data and learnings from marketing activity.

  • Develop and manage a marketing performance tracker to assess creative, media and channel effectiveness.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years in DTC e-commerce marketing, ideally in apparel, lifestyle or sportswear.

  • Experience leading a marketing team and driving growth across multiple channels.

  • A strategic thinker who can zoom out, but also rolls up their sleeves to get the job done.

  • Confident working with data and performance tools (GA4, Meta, Klaviyo, etc).

  • Strong cross-functional operator - works well with product, ops, retail, and external partners.

  • Lives and breathes brand - but knows how to measure its impact commercially.

  • Enjoys working in person, fast, and with a laugh along the way.

About Us: Budgy Smuggler, the iconic Australian swimwear brand, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to take on the role of Kotara Retail Store Manager. We're not just about swimwear; we're about building a community and creating unforgettable Smuggling experiences. Main Purpose of the Role: The Kotara Retail Store Manager is the driving force behind Budgy Smuggler's retail operations in Kotara. From overseeing day-to-day store operations to executing pop-up events, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping the Budgy Smuggler experience for our customers.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Kotara Store Operations:

  • Execute day-to-day operations of the Kotara retail store, radiating the brand's bright and entertaining personality.
  • Ensure shelves are stocked with the latest Budgy Smuggler designs, replenished weekly.
  • Recruit and train casual staff for Kotara in collaboration with Budgy’s Retail Manager.
  • Maintain a staff environment that consistently represents the brand.
  • Tailor staffing levels based on local events, seasonal demands, and weather forecasts.
  • Provide weekly feedback and reporting to improve the retail store presence in Kotara.

Sales and Customer Experience:

  • Be the face of Budgy Smuggler in Kotara, driving sales through genuine customer connections and effective merchandising.
  • Build relationships with local community groups and execute in-store events.
  • Create a shopping experience that leaves customers grinning, addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to maximize revenue.

 

Event and Pop-Up Execution:

  • Collaborate with Budgy’s Retail Manager to execute pop-up stores and activations at events.
  • Evaluate the success of events and provide recommendations for improvement.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in retail management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for building connections within the local community.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic retail environments and varying staffing needs.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction.
