IT'S AUSTRALIAN FOR SWIMWEAR

Budgy Smuggler began as a joke in an Aussie backyard when some friends wrote "Budgy Smuggler" on speedo-style swimwear. Why it succeeded? We're still figuring that out. People often ask why it’s “Budgy” instead of “Budgie.” Truth is, we noticed the misspelling too late to change it. Our favourite explanations? “It’s a trademark thing” and “We’re concept people, not detail people.”

Why should the guys have all the fun?! Launching Smugglettes was a no-brainer, and we've grown from a basic bikini and racing one-piece to a full range for women and kids since 2009. We're always developing, creating new cuts and designs for every shape, size, activity, and age—because everyone deserves to smuggle in style!

FREEING THE THIGHS OF THE WORLD...

After a decade of running operations from Manly, Australia, we set up a UK base in 2016 to give Smugglers in the UK & Europe overnight shipping—and to soak up the English sunshine... In 2023 we opened an office in Bordeaux, France and in 2024 we opened our first ever retail store outside of Sydney, in Newcastle NSW! Our goal is to have a pair of Smugglers or Smugglettes on every beach and in every changeroom around the world.
